As citizens and lawmakers grapple with the issue of how best to manage federal public lands in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, a new poll shows strong and broad support for significant wilderness protection.
Since it was founded in 1992, The Wilderness Land Trust has preserved more than 200 inholdings in 41 designated and proposed Wilderness Areas. In 2004-05, the Trust purchased 2,461 acres and transferred 2,605 acres to public ownership, more than doubling their volume of work over the prior year.
