Bringing a Sense of Place
to the Nation's Capital
 
 
 
 

In Washington, DC, we have worked with local partners in the belief that all the area's residents deserve a beautiful and clean environment. We are also convinced that an educated and aware public is one of the strongest possible forces for community and environmental improvement.

Creating Watershed Advocates
There are now over 2,000 new conservationists on the loose in Washington, DC, and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs. They are "graduates" of the watershed education program The Wilderness Society put together with local partners to involve middle and high school students in understanding and protecting their local rivers, streams and watersheds.
