Management Plan for
the Jefferson National Forest

Virginia has two National Forests, the George Washington in the mountains of northeastern Virginia and into West Virginia, and the Jefferson National Forest, which spreads across mountainous southwest Virginia, with smaller pieces in West Virginia and Kentucky. The conservation focus today is on the Jefferson, for which the U.S Forest Service is writing a new management plan.

The management plan being developed by the Forest Service will set the course of management on the Jefferson National Forest for the next 10 to 15 years.

Public participation in public land management plans is more important than ever. We hope you will join with The Wilderness Society and its Virginia conservation partners to let the Forest Service know how we want these special places managed.
