Alan Rowsome has been with The Wilderness Society for over 3 years - first as Executive Assistant to the President and now as Conservation Advocacy Associate.
As Conservation Advocacy Associate, Alan works through the Congressional budget and appropriations process to designate funding for conservation projects through programs such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Forest Legacy Program. He also works to ensure that future global warming legislation will include funding for ecosystem adaptation.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Political Management from George Washington University and his Bachelor's Degree at Miami University in Ohio.
Before coming to The Wilderness Society, Alan worked at Squier Knapp Dunn, a political consulting firm, and the U.S. Customs Service.
Having grown up spending his summers on a secluded lake in Maine, Alan has a passion for wilderness and a commitment to preserving wild places for future generations.
When Alan is not in the office or on the Hill, he enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and any sport with a ball. He bikes to and from work each day and also ran his first marathon – with more to come – in early 2008.
