Amy Vedder has worked more than 30 years in dedication to wildlife and wildland conservation, applying ecological and social science to save rich and threatened places.

Her work has gained international renown, particularly having launched highly successful conservation programs to save gorillas and tropical mountain rain forests, the subjects of several books including "In the Kingdom of Gorillas" which she has co-authored with Bill Weber.

Along the way, Amy earned her PhD in ecology from the University of Wisconsin, and BA from Swarthmore College.

Amy's intellectual interest in the science of wild places and their biodiversity stands as a complement to other deep, heartfelt connections. She enjoys vigorously hiking mountains, quietly canoeing rivers, and stopping to wonder and listen while in the wild.
