David joined The Wilderness Society in 2009. He has over 25 years of experience in public land conservation, including 15 years as a senior attorney and forestry project director at the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Most recently, he served as senior attorney at Sierra Forest Legacy, where he played a lead role in promoting the 2001 Sierra Nevada Framework, a landmark, ecosystem-based management plan for Sierra Nevada national forests, and in challenging the Bush Administration’s efforts to undo the plan. David is also a licensed psychotherapist.
David earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College, a J.D. from Harvard University, and an M.A. from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
In his free time, David enjoys hiking in the Bay Area’s outstanding parks and wildlands, cooking, and playing guitar.
