Office: 303-650-5818 x 101 Email
Kathy leads our electronic communications team, putting the power of new media to work for conservation.
She joined The Wilderness Society in 1984, producing and distributing radio feeds for the organization on such issues as forest planning, national park concessions, and the California Desert Protection Act.
She led our early broadcast efforts, which included the production of radio and video documentaries about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and a video about the Ancient Forests of the Pacific Northwest.
In 1991, Kathy moved to Denver, where she was tapped to lead The Society’s communications and activist media training in response to the Wise Use Movement, a latter-day version of the Sagebrush Rebellion.
Kathy was awarded the Gregg Leibowitz Memorial Staff Award in 1999.
Prior to coming to The Wilderness Society, Kathy flirted with broadcast journalism, providing office and production support for newsrooms at Mutual Broadcasting and ABC Radio in DC.
Kathy lives in Denver with her family — husband Steve and children Will and Callie. They have traveled extensively in the west, and are continually amazed at the diversity and beauty of America’s Wilderness.
