Sally Miller
Senior Field Representative
California/Nevada Office
Office: 415-518-7679 Email
Sally joined The Wilderness Society in 1999 and works from a remote field office in California’s spectacular Eastern Sierra region. Sally spearheaded the successful multi-year effort to designate Eastern Sierra wild lands as wilderness. On March 30, 2009 President Obama signed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act into law; the bill includes the designation of more than 430,000 acres of wilderness in the Eastern Sierra and Congressional protection for the magnificent Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains.
In addition to her work for TWS, Sally has served as a Mono County Planning Commissioner for the past 14 years. She also sits on the Board of the Sierra Nevada Bighorn Sheep Foundation.
Prior to joining TWS, Sally worked for twelve years for the Mono Lake Committee on the successful effort to protect Mono Lake from excessive water diversions by the City of Los Angeles.
In her spare time, Sally loves to do all things outdoors and is lucky to live a 20 minute drive from Yosemite National Park when Tioga Pass is open in the summer months.
Sally has a BA in Botany from the University of California, Berkeley.
