Vera Smith is Director of the Recreation Planning Program at The Wilderness Society.From 1999-2007, she served as the Conservation Director of The Colorado Mountain Club where she worked extensively with elected officials, sportsmen, recreationists, and land managers on a variety of public lands protection issues.Vera also served for over eight years as a resource manager and ranger for the National Park Service and as a researcher for Trout Unlimited. Vera has a master’s degree in land resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an undergraduate degree in geology and environmental studies from the University of Pennsylvania.She served as the president of the board of the Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project from 2003 to 2008, and serves currently as a board member of PLAN Jeffco, a local group organized to promote open space protection in Jefferson County.

Sam Goldman
Sam has been with The Wilderness Society since Fall 2007. He came most recently from M+R Strategic Services in Washington, DC where he worked with national environmental groups to improve their online campaign work and field organizing capacity. Before that, Sam was the Assistant National Field Director for U.S. PIRG where he covered a variety of issues including the fight to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
