Conservation Lands

Several areas in the Colorado Plateau are already protected as part of the nation’s Conservation Lands system. But without the right management, some of their wildness could be lost.

The Wilderness Society is working with federal agencies to make sure that protected lands in the Colorado Plateau stay wild through proper management.

Conservation Lands

We are working with the Bureau of Land Management to ensure that lands in the National Landscape Conservation System are managed well. The areas that we are focusing on include the Grand Staircase-Escalante and the Grand Canyon Parashant.

National Conservation Areas

By working closely with the Bureau of Land Management, we’re able to help guide how protected areas are maintained.  There are many National Conservation Areas in the Colorado Plateau.  With our help and expertise, they will continue to be excellent wild places for years to come.
