Forrest Shearer’s life centers around two things: snowboarding and advocating for the environment. Forrest seeks out snowboarding adventures all over the world, and wherever he goes, he speaks up for the protection of wild places.
Forrest Shearer has traveled extensively as a snowboarder — to exciting places like Utah’s Wastach Range and far-flung locales like Japan and Alaska. As an athlete, he is driven by his other passion- wilderness.
“Snowboarding for me just brings me deeper and closer to the mountains and gives me this deeper connection to them,” Forrest says.
Forrest Shearer’s life centers around two things: snowboarding and advocating for the environment.
In many of the remote places Forrest visits, he sees the effects of climate change first-hand. The professional rider and star of conservation-minded snowboarding films like “Deeper and Further,” Shearer uses his riding to raise awareness about climate change by working with conservation groups like The Wilderness Society and Protect Our Winter s.
“In snowboarding and the action sports industry, we’re out there in the mountains, hiking to these far off wilderness areas and we’re seeing first-hand the effects of climate change,” Forrest says.
“So we hope to engage these kids and take it deeper to where they can grasp it and can make it theirs.”
