How We Work on BLM Lands

Canyonlands National Park
Kari Varner
Our public lands are places we can enjoy, but they are also threatened by energy extraction, off-road vehicle use and other development activities.

The Bureau of Land Management manages wilderness and monuments, issues permits for drilling and off-road races as well as lot of other activities – it’s a lot to do. By engaging in public planning processes, The Wilderness Society works with the BLM and the public to strike a balance and protect our shared lands.

BLM Action Center

The BLM Action Center works with partner groups, local communities and the public to push the BLM toward conservation goals. We do this by engaging in the agency’s decision making process. The Action Center has helped to shape the future of BLM lands in places like Utah's canyon country, Colorado's Vermillion Basin and Otero Mesa in southern New Mexico.
