Wilderness Rangers in the Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards program work to keep Appalachian wilderness wild.

The Wilderness Rangers roam wild areas, meet with people in the wilderness and coordinate with government agencies on wilderness protection. They help direct trail maintenance and other activities to maintain wilderness areas and keep them healthy and wild.

If you enjoy hiking in backcountry, maintaining trails and helping hikers and campers with Leave No Trace ethics, you may be interested in joining the Wilderness Ranger program.
