Where SAWS Works

Southern Appalachian
USFWS-Southeast
Through our Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) program, The Wilderness Society preserves wilderness areas and wilderness study areas in the Southern Appalachians region.

SAWS does trail maintenance and has Wilderness Rangers across designated wilderness and wilderness study areas in four southern states: Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
