North Carolina Mountain Treasures
People who live in western North Carolina are becoming more educated on the importance of protecting the region's wild places. They are getting involved with the upcoming revision of the forest plan for the Nantahala-Pisgah National Forests. This new plan will help guarantee that pristine areas in the forest stay wild.
Expansive Wilderness
Privately owned wild lands in and around the Nantahala-Pisgah National Forests will receive added protection when they are incorporated as publicly owned wild lands. The federal Land and Water Conservation Fund’s funding has increased, which will allow national forest lands to be further expanded and connected.
