Cynthia, a Regional Conservation Representative, has been with the Wilderness Society since September 2006 and is an integral part of wilderness and public lands advocacy work throughout Washington State.

Ms. Wilkerson has extensive experience in the conservation field in Washington, British Columbia, Florida, and California. Her diverse skill-set includes solid scientific training in ecology and conservation biology, strategic planning, facilitation, leadership, and creation and implementation of comprehensive conservation programs.

Prior work includes founding a non-profit biological research organization in the mid-coast of British Columbia, forest economic research and outreach at the University of Florida, and work in the California office of Defenders of Wildlife where she developed and managed the California Desert Program, worked on regional conservation and transportation planning, and covered carnivore conservation issues including the Channel Island fox and Pacific fisher.

Cynthia holds an MS in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida and a BS in Ecology and Conservation Biology from the University of Washington.

Cynthia and her husband Anthony live in a small town in eastern Washington with their infant son, Leopold. They enjoy being in the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking, and kayaking. Cynthia also has a passion for yoga, pilates, and circus arts. She's a huge Cirque du Soleil fan and has trained as an aerial circus artist as well as an Afro-Brazilian martial artist. She loves cooking good, organic, local foods, traveling internationally, playing and listening to live music and spending quality time with friends and family.
