Luciana is The Wilderness Society’s Volunteer Engagement Director, dedicated to providing effective engagement of the organization’s volunteer leaders.

Luciana was previously with The Nature Conservancy in various roles, including in Hawaii as the Zoologist for the Heritage Program, in Brazil as the Director of Conservation Science, and at the Global Headquarters first as the Director of Conservation Journeys, the Conservancy’s trips program aimed at enriching knowledge of the Conservancy’s global work, then as the Director of Cultivation and Stewardship, managing a team dedicated to supporting fundraisers and creating organization-wide opportunities for high level engagement of major donors and prospects; and most recently, as the Director of the Trustee Program where she was the staff leader working with the Trustee Advisory Council representing the 1500 executive volunteers in state and country programs working to advance the organization’s mission worldwide.

Luciana, originally from Brazil, earned a B.A. in Biology and a Masters degree in Marine Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

She has traveled extensively throughout the Americas, Asia, the Pacific Rim and Africa. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
