As a Senior Regional Representative, Stan Van Velsor works with a coalition of organizations and individuals determined to protect large areas in California’s national forests for the enjoyment of quiet forms of recreation and to ensure that off-road vehicles are managed in a way that reduces their impact on the natural environment.
Stan has a BS in Wildlife Science and a PhD in Natural Resource Management. He has worked in environmental education and spent several years in conservation grant-making as Program Manager of the Pew Fellows Program in Biodiversity Conservation.
Stan’s most recent work has been in the nonprofit world with the Sierra Club and now The Wilderness Society, where he has found his niche. He joined The Wilderness Society in 2006.
