Vera Smith is Director of Policy and Planning of the National Forest Action Center at The Wilderness Society.
From 1999-2007, she served as the Conservation Director of The Colorado Mountain Club where she worked extensively with elected officials, sportsmen, recreationists and land managers on a variety of public lands protection issues.
Vera also served for over eight years as a resource manager and ranger for the National Park Service and as a researcher for Trout Unlimited. Vera has a master’s degree in land resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an undergraduate degree in geology and environmental studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
She served as the president of the board of the Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project from 2003 to 2008, and serves currently as a board member of PLAN Jeffco, a local group organized to promote open space protection in Jefferson County.
