As the California Wilderness Coordinator, Warren Alford works with a coalition of organizations and individuals to preserve California’s remaining wild areas for future generations to experience and enjoy. Warren joined The Wilderness Society in 2012 with more than 15 years of experience with Sierra Forest Legacy and the Sierra Club on public land conservation campaigns and on-the-ground collaborations with non-traditional partners.
He was executive director of the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association and was a founder and board member of Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch and the Arnold Rim Trail Association. Warren has worked on wild land designations, forest restoration and wild fire and fuels management.
A fifth-generation Californian, Warren has been a small business owner, a Sierra guide and packer and is a certified farrier. He is based at his family’s historic ranch in Avery, CA on the west side of the Sierra Nevada.
