The Wilderness Society and its supporters are leading the national charge to move a group of wildlands bills over the finish line and protect more of the nation’s most iconic wildlands before the next Congress is sworn in. Together we’ve been contacting delegates in Washington to urge that they take up and pass more than 21 important wildlands bills that are currently awaiting action in Congress.

These bills would designate 2 million acres of stunning wildlands as federally protected Wilderness and conserve another 2 million acres of stunning wildlands with other special protections. At stake are places cherished by Americans, such as Colorado’s snow-capped San Juan Mountains, California’s multi-colored desert lands, New Mexico's rugged Organ Mountains and Michigan’s beloved Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

You can help by asking Congress to take action to move these bills forward.
