May 25, 2012 - Memorial Day weekend is here!  Summer vacation starts now, and for many Americans (and certainly people reading this) that means getting outdoors and into nature. So it’s a good thing that Americans have so many places to get outside - more than 600 million acres of public land, and more 110 million acres protected as Wilderness. Many of those protected acres are because of a program called the Land and Water Conservation Fund.  more
