Action needed for House vote expected tomorrow
By Kathy Westra on June 25, 2009 - 6:07pm
The Wilderness Society’s summer interns and climate staff joined members of Congress and representatives of labor unions, religious groups, and other environmental organizations for a rally on Capitol Hill this week to urge House members to pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454).
Rep. Ed Markey (front row, second from left), one of the bill’s main sponsors, spoke to the crowd and then joined the Wilderness Society group for a photo.
The vote is tomorrow, and every Representative needs to hear from constituents who favor passing this historic climate legislation. Our opponents in Big Oil and Big Coal, who have a vested interest in continuing our dependence on dirty fuels, are spending millions to defeat the bill.
