America's Newest Wild Lands and Wilderness
On March 25, 2009, Congress passed the largest wilderness and lands protection measure in fifteen years - the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act. Whether it be Earth Day or any other day, it is worth taking time to celebrate these places and the wildlife and ecological values they protect.

The Omnibus Public Lands Act helped protect over two million acres of wilderness, hundreds of miles of wild and scenic rivers and special areas overseen by the Bureau of Land Management. You can find out more about each area by clicking the icons above.

Sam Goldman
Sam has been with The Wilderness Society since Fall 2007. He came most recently from M+R Strategic Services in Washington, DC where he worked with national environmental groups to improve their online campaign work and field organizing capacity. Before that, Sam was the Assistant National Field Director for U.S. PIRG where he covered a variety of issues including the fight to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
