As Americans, each of us inherits an extraordinary wilderness legacy — spectacular national parks, tranquil deserts and canyons, wildlife-rich wetlands and seashores and towering forests. Our nation has had the wisdom and foresight to protect a wealth of these public lands that contain some of the most stunning places in the world.
Since 1935, The Wilderness Society has been leading the effort to protect America’s lands. We do it very well. More than 109 million acres of forests, parks, wildlife refuges and deserts have permanent protection because of our work.
Today, as always, our work is founded in science and law and good public policy. It is successful because of our connections with others — conservation groups, ranchers, union workers, hunters, teachers, federal employees, religious leaders. These are people who believe, as Thoreau said, that in wildness is the preservation of the world.
Our new web site was designed to help us forge those connections and to make it easy for you to express your passion for wilderness through action.
Look around and learn about the wilderness movement, past and present. Learn about the major issues of your time. Comment, take action, sign up for WildAlerts and subscribe to our RSS feeds.
However you chose to use the site, we welcome you, and we hope you will become an active part of our online community. Because America’s wilderness needs you more than ever before.

am not sure where the best blog for my comment would be - but somewhere , please allocate lots more space for walking with dogs, horses pets etc - everyone in the world wants tons of more space for walking with our animal friends, for hours at a time .
