National Landscape Conservation System Internship

January 14, 2009

The Wilderness Society is a national, nonprofit conservation group dedicated to preserving wilderness and wildlife and protecting America’s prime forests, parks, rivers, deserts, and shorelines.

The intern for TWS’ National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) Campaign will assist with a variety of efforts to protect and restore the 26 million acres of special BLM lands that have a conservation mandate (see www.conservationsystem.org). Campaign goals include increasing appropriations for the System, building support and enthusiasm for the System within the BLM, educating the public about the System’s values, and improving the management plans which the BLM is drafting for NLCS’s areas, such as National Monuments.
