A coalition of more than 80 nonprofit conservation and other organizations, led by the Wilderness Society, is optimistic that Congress will soon pass bipartisan-backed legislation creating America’s newest conservation system — the National Landscape Conservation System.
The system of more than 26 million acres of mountains, streams, rivers, trails and historic sites could be approved as part of the The Omnibus Public Land Management Act that the Senate may consider during a lame duck session in November.
The National Landscape Conservation System is comprised of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Once signed into law, the legislation will strengthen the collection of these lands by uniting separate units into one system — ensuring consistent management and preventing any future misguided attempts to dissolve the system.

Conservation System
What can I say about the last 24 hrs. I am still in awe and shock due to our newly elected President. A new beginning is what I see. We have, after the past eight years or so, lost so much.
We can now get back our country and put it right! Our beautiful pristine lands, wild animals, flora and fauna so to speak. Hopefully we can once again, through good government , allow ourselves and generations to come, the beauty and serenity of all our wonderous sights in the USA.
No more worry about our water, our untouched land ( whether it be by drilling, logging or just plain destroyed) our wonderful wild life in all it's beauty and freedom. If endangered or being destroyed by man, we will strike a new balance and give not only these creatures but all of us a chance to experience what our country was and is all about. Freedom for all!
Greed and lack of emotion has created this terrible attitude towards all things we have come to cherish. Corporate America along with the Bush administration has managed to destroy so very much of our very essence. We need to clean up this mess that has been happening for too long and get back to what we stand for. Good choices not greedy or emotionless ones.
There is nothing more beautiful than a sunset or sunrise in Hawaii, the falling of leaves in autumn, the forests covered with a snowfall, the clean waters be they streams, lakes, or oceans and all the creatures running freely with no fears of extinction.
Seems just like a fairy tale book yet it is real.
Enjoy the beauty that God has so generously given us!
