Wilderness Adventure Trips 2009
Wyoming - Threatened Gems of the Southern Yellowstone Ecosystem
June 18 - 22, 2009
Join us on an expedition into one of the most celebrated regions of wild Wyoming: The Southern Yellowstone Ecosystem. Here in the Wyoming Range and adjacent Upper Green River Valley, you'll explore a land of sage covered valleys, rugged alpine peaks, verdant meadows, and clear mountain streams that is currently under attack from an unprecedented increase in oil and gas drilling development. From grassroots organizing to Capitol Hill advocacy, The Wilderness Society has joined our local partners to engage in the fight against this critical threat, and together we have celebrated several notable accomplishments over the past year. We invite you to see first hand the beauty of this land while learning about the ecology, the politics, and the diverse perspectives that inform an intense debate about land conservation in this region. You can't miss this unique opportunity to discover the wilds of Wyoming that you have helped preserve through your support. Find out more about this trip.
Washington - The North Cascades are Calling
August 31 - September 4, 2009
Join The Wilderness Society for a late summer retreat amidst the breathtaking peaks of the North Cascades. Explore high meadows, paddle alpine lakes, and hike the dense forests that make up one of the largest intact wild ecosystems in the continental United States. At every turn you will learn about and discuss the importance of large landscape level conservation in the face of both imminent and long term threats such as the economic downturn, population growth, and climate change. You will also hear from our staff in the field about how The Wilderness Society's work in the North Cascades is engaging new and non-traditional allies through our landscape level approach to conservation. Maine - Into the Heart of the Northern Forest
September 10 - 14, 2009
The far reaches of western Maine hold some of the last true wilderness areas east of the Mississippi River. To explore this remote region, we invite you to accompany TWS staff and local experts on a journey through the heart of the Northern Forest where you'll experience the windswept, sub-alpine peaks of The Mahoosuc Range, the pine and spruce lined Androscoggin River, and the reflective waters of Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge. Each day you will learn more about the efforts that TWS and our partners are engaged in to protect the delicate forests, mountain aquifers, and intact wildlife habitats that exist just outside the front doors of millions of American homes. Find out more about this adventure into the Northern Forest.
