William Cronon
William Cronon represents the literary tradition of The Wilderness Society's governing council, as Wallace Stegner and Terry Tempest Williams did in years past. Cronon's 1991 book, Nature's Metropolis: Chicago and the Great West, won several national awards and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. He is a former MacArthur Fellow and currently serves on the board of The Trust for Public Land. Cronon is a Vilas Research Professor, the University of Wisconsin’s most distinguished chaired professorship.
