Idaho Focus Areas

Idaho is home to vast, wild landscapes and some of the most ecologically intact regions of the Columbia River Basin and Northern Rockies.

We’re working to protect the most pristine of these wild Idaho lands, especially important wildlife and fish habitat. Part of that work includes restoring and connecting large landscapes.

Clearwater Basin

The Clearwater Basin includes millions of acres of forests, rivers and mountains. Since Lewis and Clark passed through the area two centuries ago, the Clearwater has been threatened by logging and road construction. We are helping to restore key wildlife and fish habitat.

Boise and Payette National Forest

Spanning over 2.3 million acres of some of west-central Idaho's most diverse landscapes, the Boise and Payette National Forest includes everything from desert grasslands to high elevation conifer forests and alpine peaks.

Witness testimony today by Noble’s Offshore Installation Manager Todd Case as he was questioned by the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the Kulluk drill rig -- which Shell attempted to tow across the Gulf of Alaska with a single tow vessel before it broke loose and ran aground last New Year’s Eve -- should have had multiple tow vessels for safe transport.

Case was aboard the Kulluk when it went adrift and ran aground on a small island south of Kodiak.
