Today, President Obama called on Congress to pass legislation to avoid across-the-board budget cuts from the so-called “sequester.” The Wilderness Society President Jamie Williams said this in response:
The White House recommendations for the budget cuts scheduled for 2013 will decimate America’s wild places and necessitate the closing of public places such as National Parks and Refuges, according to The Wilderness Society.
Today, President Obama signed into law legislation authorizing the National Park Service to continue to issue permits for commercial packstock use within Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks while the agency completes a stewardship plan for park wilderness.
