Carcasses Dumped at Monument

Excerpts:

Hundreds of pounds of rotting animal parts have been found in a grisly illegal dump on public lands in southwestern Colorado.

The disturbing pile, made up of more than 700 pounds of elk and cattle body parts — including bones, partial hides and heads — was discovered last month in the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, according to federal authorities.

Investigators with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management are now looking for whoever used the monument land as a dump site.

…Vandals have also struck in the area, known as Goodman Point, destroying signs and trailhead facilities.
