This past summer, in 24 stops across the country along the Obama administration's America's Great Outdoors listening tour, tens of thousands of Americans spoke out in favor of more parks, trails and protected lands and rivers. Americans stood up to tell the administration that it's time to take urgent action to conserve the places that we hold dear.
This passion and commitment to conservation is what inspires us to add our voices to the call for an ambitious and meaningful conservation plan from the Obama administration when it releases the America's Great Outdoors report — a plan for a new conservation agenda for the nation — next month.
We need a new vision and urgent action to protect land and water and the web of life they support, and we are glad that Americans are speaking out for action. The Obama administration can answer that call by focusing attention and resources on the National Landscape Conservation System — our National Conservation Lands.
