Utah monument staff given praise by conservation group

Excerpts:

A new administration has brought forth progress over the past year, with the Department of the Interior offering new paths forward for protecting some of America's most treasured public lands. This week The Wilderness Society's Bureau of Land Management Action Center announced ten new recipients of the annual Comparative Analysis of Particular Excellence (CAPE) awards identifying significant first steps and meaningful permanent protections for western lands.

…The dedication of BLM officials, activists, and a wide range of partners has brought about many noteworthy accomplishments in 2009," said Nada Culver, Director of The Wilderness Society's BLM Action Center. "We hope these programs can serve as examples of how the agencies tasked with protecting our public lands should be conducting business."
