Following is a quick analysis of H.R. 4019, the “Federal Forests County Revenue, Schools, and Jobs Act of 2012,” which was introduced by Rep. Hastings on February 14 and approved by the House Natural Resources Committee on February 16.  Overall, the bill would dramatically change national forest management by imposing mandatory timber sale volume and revenue requirements and exempting logging and other revenue-generating activities from environmental laws.
