The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Conservation and Recreation Act (S. 23/H.R. 163) would designate approximately 32,557 acres along the mainland shore of Lake Michigan and on nearby island coastlines as wilderness, permanently protecting it for all Americans.
Multiple flood events have made the Suiattle River road impassable, extremely limiting opportunities to explore some of the best hikes, lakes and peaks of Glacier Peak Wilderness, such as iconic Image Lake and the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.

The Highway 2 corridor spans the crest of the Cascade Mountains, encompassing the Skykomish basin in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and most of the Wenatchee basin in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
