Obama creates Pinnacles National Park in California

If seeing the national parks is on your bucket list, it's time to take note and add another park to the list. Pinnacles, the dramatic volcanic-spired national monument in central California, is now Pinnacles National Park.
Conservation bills brought before Senate Committee
Numerous bills that failed to pass before Congress adjourned last Congressional session are receiving their first hearing today in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on National Parks.
From California to New York, the bills being reviewed would protect historical, cultural and natural treasures, such as wilderness areas and precious water supplies.
National Park status would boost tourism and local economy; bill also adds additional lands protections
SAN FRANCISCO (August 5, 2010) Conservation groups praised Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today for introducing legislation that would create Pinnacles National Park. It is a companion bill to legislation introduced one year ago in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Sam Farr (D-Salinas).
