U.S. Senate Hearing Gives Boost to Wilderness legislation

WASHINGTON – The Wilderness Society today applauded the hearing in the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests for the protection of the Boulder-White Clouds area, the Central Idaho Economic Development and Recreation Act or CIEDRA. The Wilderness Society has been working with the Idaho delegation and local groups to advance the legislation, and is hopeful to see final passage during this Congress.

Boulder-White Clouds bill goes to Washington

Last week, Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch introduced the Boulder-White Clouds wilderness legislation formally called The Central Idaho Economic Development and Recreation Act or CIEDRA. Idaho Congressmen Mike Simpson and Walt Minnick have introduced companion legislation in the House of Representatives, which grew from earlier versions that had originally been introduced by Rep. Simpson.
