Letter to the U.S. Senate regarding dangers of exploratory offshore drilling

In the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig accident — which could become the largest ecological disaster in history — a coalition of environmental organizations sent a letter to the U.S. Senate, urging them to pursue clean energy instead of the destructive and dangerous practices of oil and gas drilling.

One year after the worst oil spill disaster in U.S. history, there are still many legislative, regulatory and other changes which need to be made before oil drilling in “frontier” offshore areas like  deepwater in the Gulf of Mexico and  the Arctic Ocean is allowed to proceed, according to The Wilderness Society.
