The Department of Energy just put out a new report that should have renewable energy supporters cheering from coast to coast. In 2012, wind energy became the number one source of new energy generation in the United States – amounting to 43% of new energy generated.
Here at The Wilderness Society, we know that when renewable energy is built in the right places it can benefit our communities in a myriad of ways, including aiding the economy and helping to solve our climate crisis by reducing the need for dirty power plants.
This bill would set a budget, with limits for individual programs, for how the Department of Energy spends its money starting October 1, 2013. This normally routine business is something that both the House and the Senate do every year.
