This is in Lancaster, California. During the springtime, the California Poppies, our state flower, spring from the ground in tiny bursts of orange and take over in this little town. You can see the orange glow from a distance. With hardly any green to break it up, the field looks like it is simply on fire in the bright golden sun. This moment was when my dear friend Emma tossed her pink blanket into the air with the intent of setting it on the field to lie on, and I snapped the picture.
