Connect with Jahir

Jahir joined The Wilderness Society in 2024 as our High Meadows Fellow. He is a recent graduate from Princeton University, where he earned his B.A in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a certificate in Environmental Studies. For his senior thesis, completed under the mentorship of Dr. Sarah D. Kocher and PhD candidate Michelle White, he developed and trained a machine learning algorithm which can identify wild halictid bees by species using pictures of their forewings. By streamlining the data collection process through citizen science, his project aimed to dismantle current barriers to effective conservation of insect pollinators.

Jahir Morris is devoted to his role as an advocate for historically marginalized communities and individuals facing the threat of climate disaster and the consequences of inequitable sustainability practices. In fulfilling his role, Jahir is determined to find actionable and equitable means of addressing the needs of underrepresented communities. Off the clock, you can find him cooking, practicing photography, thrifting, or working out.
