Michelle is a Senior Government Relations Representative for The Wilderness Society, where she advances forestry and outdoor recreation efforts that protect our public lands and waters and our equitable access to them.
Previously, she served in the Biden-Harris Administration as Interior Secretary Deb Haaland's speechwriter, where she communicated the Department's sprawling jurisdiction and the secretary's historic achievements through speeches and opinion pieces. Michelle joined the Interior Department after several years on Capitol Hill, where she worked - first in the House and later the Senate - for New Mexico's congressional delegation. Prior to joining Interior, she served as a legislative aide for Senator Martin Heinrich, where she led the senator's work on priorities such as historic preservation, wildlife conservation, and various place-based public lands protections.
Michelle is a lifelong climate and public lands advocate, having grown up beneath the alpenglow of New Mexico's Sandia Mountains. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico (Go Lobos!). In her free time, Michelle enjoys reading, watching the latest horror films, and exploring Washington, D.C.'s many neighborhoods.
