Nicole Layman works closely with grassroots partners to identify opportunities to permanently protect vital public lands through legislative and administrative conservation designations. She focuses on developing outreach, legislative and media strategies and tactics to support campaigns in priority western states.

Prior to joining The Wilderness Society, Nicole was a member of a private land-use economics and planning firm addressing issues such as fiscal and economic impacts of mountain west growth management and sustainable development. She has worked successfully with a range of stakeholders to find common ground and develop community solutions.

Nicole earned her BA in Urban and Regional Planning at Miami University and a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning at Ohio State University.
