Rachel joined The Wilderness Society in January 2025, where she works to ensure conservation remains a priority in federal land management planning. Before joining TWS, she served as a staff attorney for a regional public interest law firm in California, focusing on land use, wildlife protection and the designation of the nation’s first tribally-led National Marine Sanctuary.
She began her career in environmental advocacy in Arizona and then spent more than a decade working for federal lawmakers, including as senior legislative assistant on environmental and tribal matters to Congressman Raúl Grijalva.
Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, where she earned a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. Licensed to practice law in California and Arizona, Rachel now resides in Ojai, California, with her husband, Brian. She enjoys cultivating native plants and observing the wildlife and birds they attract.
