Victories in the North Cascades

At Wilderness, we've been working in the North Cascades for many years and have seen significant conservation victories in the landscape.

We are working in the North Cascades to build upon this region’s strong legacy of conservation. We have had great success collaborating with local communities, other conservation group and government agencies to achieve conservation victories in this beloved landscape.

The Wilderness Society’s work is based upon forming strong partnerships and working together to find innovative solutions to protecting the North Cascades.

Some of our recent victories include:

  • Creating the Yakima Basin Conservation Campaign to protect the headwaters of the Yakima River Basin.
  • Leading the campaign to expand the Alpine Lakes Wilderness by 22,000 acres and protect 30 miles of wild rivers in the Pratt River Valley.
  • Engaging the public to create a plan for a safe, reliable and sustainable road system in the Chewuch watershed.
  • Building the North Cascades Initiative to engage new audiences in experiencing and protecting the landscape.
