In the wake of reporting that Senator Manchin has told Senate Democratic leadership that he cannot support a climate investment package as part of a budget reconciliation bill, The Wilderness Society issued this response.
Jamie Williams, president of The Wilderness Society said:
“The news that climate investments have been dropped from the budget bill is beyond disappointing. The House has done its part. We strongly encourage Senator Manchin to return to the negotiating table so that the Senate can do the same.
“Climate disasters and climate pollution are already wreaking havoc on our health and our livelihoods. We are running out of time to act, and every setback in legislative action while the scientific evidence mounts and the public outcry for action grows louder and louder is profoundly discouraging.”
