Joining the Trump administration’s assault on federal lands across America, the state of Alaska is preparing to renew efforts to explore for oil on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has revived her ongoing attack on Alaska’s Izembek National Wildlife Refuge by introducing a bill (S. 3204) that would force construction of a road through a designated wilderness area.
That document – known as the Comprehensive Conservation Plan – includes a recommendation that Congress designate the fragile coastal plain and other areas of the refuge as wilderness.
