UPDATE: The Department of the Interior has announced it will soon open a public comment period on recent uses of the Antiquities Act, and listed the national monuments it will target for review under Trump's recent executive order, presumably with an eye toward reducing their protection.
Pushed by extremists in Congress, President Trump is considering diminishing Bears Ears' monument protection. This could leave thousands of sensitive archaeological and cultural sites at risk of vandalism and looting, and it would dash years of hard work by Native American tribes and others to protect this spectacular and sensitive landscape.
After years of sharing photos that show the best of American lands, the BLM now apparently sees these places in terms of the polluting resources that can be drilled, dug or blasted from beneath their surface.
Además de afectar gravemente a personas, familias y comunidades fronterizas, un propuesto muro a lo largo de la frontera entre los Estados Unidos y México muy probablemente afectaría las tierras públicas y la vida silvestre.
