Editor's Note: We are no longer accepting submissions for the Wild45 Photo Contest, as of August 27, 2009. Winning photographs will be announced on September 3. Thanks to everyone for participating. They're absolutely stunning!

Join the Wild45 Photo Contest! Help us celebrate the 45th anniversary of The Wilderness Act and get your moment of fame!

We invite you to share your best original photos from excursions in nature.

The winning 45 photos will be featured on the website Sept. 3 on the anniversary of the Wilderness Act. Top 5 finalists receive a Wilderness Society 2010 calendar!

How to Enter

  • To enter one or more images, add your photo(s) to the Wilderness Society's Flickr™ group before Aug. 26 and tag them with Wild45.* Original image resolution must be 6 megapixels or higher (we may request a higher resolution version of photos than is available through Flickr).
  • Flickr lets you provide a photo description, so don't forget to share where and when the photo was taken — and if there is a funny or happy story behind the photo, include that as well.
  • We're looking for photography that captures the incredible scenery found in America's wild lands — including wilderness, wildlife refuges, forests, parks, national monuments, and other public lands. Your original digital images of our lands, waters, plants, animals and people in nature are all encouraged.
  • Images will be judged on originality, technical and artistic merit, composition and overall impact.

You can create a Flickr account easily by clicking the big "create your account" button on the Flickr homepage. If you already have a Yahoo ID you can use that or simply create a new one.

The contest is open to all participants age 18 and older. Photo submissions must be uploaded by August 26, 2009. You retain ownership and full rights to all images submitted but grant us the right to use your images in support of The Wilderness Society's mission.
